I have recently had a conversation with someone prevalent in my life and the fact I have to ask this question is appalling: Does everyone care if this country succeeds and continues to be the elite nation it is today? Some people just don't care, some people think it is not their job to care, some people have MONEY invested somewhere else so it is not CRUCIAL for them to prosper if America prospers. So why would people come to think this way?
The first answer is this: it has to be MONEY driven. Which in itself is bothersome and disgusting. are they ok? Are they comfortable in their investments? Does Uncle Sam put too much pressure on them? No he doesn't unless its health care, unemployment or any other government hand out forcing that investment to lose MONEY. American citizens have become way too materialistic and care about the almighty DOLLAR. If the average American is earning their keep and their DOLLAR then why should they care how the condition of the state is doing? There is a current philosophy that bothers me: rely on the government and all will be well. Why is that? Why must government solve everything? It shouldn't nor do I want it to. Thats the role of us as INDIVIDUALS to figure out and accomplish. Only through pain and sacrifice can there be growth.
The second answer is this: the media; that we as American citizens have come to rely on, tells us that we are spoiled, lazy, fat, and most importantly: happy. Does spoiled, lazy and fat equal happiness? probably not, but that is what the media will tell us to believe. No where will they speak the words, "spoiled, lazy, fat" , however; they want us to be guilty of our prosperity that our grandfathers and fathers happily bestowed upon us. Why guilt? That is simply because it is not in their control (by their I mean media). American prosperity was the reslut of INDIVIDUALS and not government control. Control is all the media wants, control how you feel/think/want/believe. That is how they gain power. More control means more telling us what to do, feel guilty for, not be happy.
not everyone wants the country to be happy or succeed and prosper. thats where compromise comes in. debate and GROWTH. Does one side grow or does not recede and not think for whats best for everyone within a nation. Not everyone thinks of what is best for everyone but hopefully just one person asks himself, "How can I make a positive difference in this world?" if one different person asks himself that question....things will change.
